Ponga Island

May 2023 – June 2024

Have you heard of the Pongasians? They live on a hidden island deep within our consciousness, a place of boundless creative freedom and never-ending joy. With wide open eyes, they look directly into your infinite, timeless soul, offering unconditional trust and love.
The souls of the Pongasians are a marvel of pure essence. They are beings of profound wisdom and endless curiosity, each one radiating a unique energy. When you meet a Pongasian, you feel an immediate connection, as if they can see through the layers of your being right into your core. Their gaze offers a mirror to your deepest self, reflecting both your highest aspirations and your hidden fears, yet embracing them all with unconditional acceptance. They thrive on creative energy, drawing from the well of dreams and possibilities that resides within each of us. Their presence encourages you to unlock your inner child, to play, to create, and to dream without limits.
The Pongasians teach us that joy is not just an emotion, but a way of being. In the center of the painting sits Mr. Charly Ponga, introducing each one of the Pongasians to you and keeping watch over his island.
To create this artwork, I used all the techniques I’ve learned in digital painting over the years. The painting was crafted in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet and consists of more than 500 layers of hand-painted elements, PNGs, Midjourney elements, Corel Draw vectors, and photos. Every digital brushstroke brought the magic of this hidden island to life, capturing the essence of the Pongasians in all their glory.
A major inspiration for this piece was my favorite painter, Johfra Bosschart. To honor him, one of my favorite works by Bosschart is reflected in a pupil.
